Instituting  a  change  in  procedure  this  month , our  usual  Chaverschaft  Table  Lodge  Meeting  will  take  the  form  of  an  OPEN   TABLE   LODGE   GATHERING  ,  to  which  our  WIVES  and   LADIES   are  cordially  invited . 

The   OPEN   TABLE   LODGE   GATHERING  will  be  held  BEFORE   the  OPEN  LODGE   MEETING ,  commencing  at  8 , 30  p.m.,  and  during  which  our  BROTHER   SOLLY   HARE  will  give  us     A   FEW   THOUGHTS    ON    ANAESTHESIA  .   Brother  Solly  has  indicated  that  his  talk  will  be  very  interesting  and  informative .  Arrangements  have  been  made  to  take  the  Wives  and  Ladies  home  after  the  Gathering ,  while  the  men  enter  the  Temple  for  their  Open  Lodge  Meeting.

FROM    THE    PRESIDENTS    PEN . :

Dear Worthy Brethren and Brethren

The days of awe are now behind us and our fate for the coming year has been sealed. However, this does not exonerate us from carrying out our duties and maintaining our obligations of commitments as Jews in upholding the traditions of Judaism.

The dissolution and decay of the Jewish people is best seen in the decay of the Jewish home. No nation can be destroyed while it possesses a good home life, but when members of a people, as so many of our young couples as well as their senior prototypes do, cease to revere their homes, then the germs of decadence and dissolution of  the entire race have already been admitted and are swiftly and silently working their virulent poisons.

The home is the cellular unit in the national composition, and Israels regeneration and preservation must begin with the revival and strengthening of the traditional Jewish home, not impaired or impoverished, but rather enhanced and made more attractive by all the amenities and refining factors of modern culture.

Above all, the great essential is the constant companionship and close relationship between parents and children that warmth and glow of affection springing from true sympathy and understanding which transforms a house into a home where its residents will find substantial food for their spirit rather than the material and transient excitement of the party craze. Parents, on whom alone rests the entire responsibility of the creation of a true home should so fashion their lives that they shall from day to day inspire their children with a true sense of reverence and affection

And he will bring back the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers.

This should be the ideal sought after in every Jewish home. A home of this type is within the reach of almost everyone. It is not the multiplicity of its rooms nor the richness of its furniture that makes a home worthy of so dignified a name. Neither is it the display of profuseness of its material possessions, but rather the continual comradeship, the precious sense of togetherness, sympathy and understanding that is encouraged in an atmosphere of sacrifice, service and the noblest idealism.

It is with these thoughts in mind that this concept be practiced, not only in respect of our own individual personal lives but equally applies to our conduct towards each other as Brethren of the Hebrew Order of David. By so doing, we can only strengthen the bond between us and give us the power to grow closer together as a family as we have been designed to be.

May the New Year be trouble free, filled with good health and happiness for us all and peace for Israel and the world.
