Our  Chaverschaft  Table  Lodge  Meeting,  after  our  Election  Meeting,  is  usually  less  formal  than  when  we  have  a  guest  speaker.  Worthy  Brethren  and  Brethren  get  together  for  a  drink  and  a  snack,  and  congratulate  those  Worthy  Brethren  and  Brethren  that  have  been  elected  to  Office  for  the  ensuing  year.

 

ALL  Worthy  Brethren  and  Brethren  are  cordially invited  to  attend  the  Open  Lodge  and  Election   Meeting,  and  then  to  participate  in  the  Chaverschaft  Table  Lodge.

       FROM   THE    PRESIDENT’S    PEN ……:

Dear Worthy Brethren and Brethren,

Jews the world over are living through very troubled times, confronting a new wave of terrorism, and Anti – Semitism, that has once again reared its ugly head. It is spreading like a cancer, not only in Central Europe, but throughout a great many other countries of the Western World.

A very long time ago people did not pray. They did not know how to pray. Instead they would take one of their animals or some grain from their fields, place it on a stone altar and burn it as a “sacrifice” to God. They felt that it was the only way they knew to acknowledge His existence and show their faith in Him by giving up something of value. Today, we do the same thing when give money to charity.

It was Abraham who composed the first Jewish prayer when he asked God to spare the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. God also answered Moses only after he had prayed for guidance. In very few of our prayers do we ask favors for ourselves. Most of our prayers are for Israel and mankind.

There is power in prayer whether or not you pray in a Synagogue or pray from your heart. Let us now offer up our prayers for peace and harmony to prevail, not only in our troubled land but for the entire troubled free world.

Dear  Worthy  Brother  Secretary and  Worthy  Brother  Scribe,

Please  convey  my  appreciation  and  grateful  thanks  to  the  Worthy  Brother  President,  Officers,  and  all  Worthy  Brethren,  Brethren,  and  wives,  who  expressed  their  concern  and  good  wishes  for  my  speedy  recovery,  to  either  my  wife,  Edie,  or  myself,  during  my  recent  and  most unexpected  spell  in  hospital.

 

I  would  like  to place  on  record,  a  special  “ Thanks ”  to  Worthy  Brother  Moshe  Abramowitz,  for  his  truly  thoughtful  and  most  Brotherly  action,  in  his  initiating  E-mail  contact  with  Brethren  before  he  had  any  official  notice  of  my  hospitalization.  This  type  of  action  should  at  all  times  apply  to  any  Brother  under  similar  circumstances,  as  a  natural  course  of  events  in  our  Fraternal  Order.

 

Thank  G-d  I  am  home  again  after  the  procedure,  and  P.G.  hope  to  be  back  at  Meetings  as  soon  as  possible.

Brother  Mike  Weil,  who  is  also  recuperating  at  home,  after  a  “ procedure ”  done  in hospital.

  KLABBERJAS   CHAMPIONSHIPS  -  2004:

 

Well,  the  OPEN  KLABBERJAS  CHAMPIONSHIPS,  under  the  auspices  of  LODGE  MOLEDET  NO. 44,  is  ON.    To  date  there  has  been  a  lot  of  interest,  and  the  start  of  the  CHAMPIONSHIPS  is  awaited  with  keen  anticipation !

 

Depending  on  the  final  number  of  entries,  it  is  hoped  to  run  the  Tournament  at  Beit  Issie  Shapiro,  in  Ra’anana.  The  entry  lists  are  still  open,  and  anyone  interested  in  participating in  the  Tournament  should  contact  Brother  Aubrey  Danziger  (  Phone:  (H)  09 – 774 5380 )   or  Worthy  Brother  Claude  Lavenski  ( Phone:  ( H )  09 – 771 7250 )  for  further  details,  and  to  put  in  their  entry.

COMBINED  ANNUAL  INSTALLATION  OF  OFFICERS,  and  MANAGEMENT  COMMITTEES,  for  2004  /  2005:

 

Our  Combined  Annual  Installation  of  Officers,  and  Management  Committees, for  the  Israeli

Lodges,  will  be  conducted  by  the  Worthy  Brother  Grand  President,  and  his  Delegation  of  Grand  Lodge  Officers,  on   SUNDAY  14 th.  MARCH,  2004.

 

It  is  expected  that  the  Worthy  Brother  Grand  President  will  be  accompanied  by  a  sizeable    Delegation  of  Worthy  Brethren  and  Brethren  from  South  Africa,  in  support  of  the  Centenary  Celebrations  of  the  Hebrew  Order  of  David  International.

 

Further  details  of  the  arrangements  for  the  Combined  Installation  will  be  published  at  a  later  date.  This  forthcoming  Combined  Annual  Installation  is  being  hosted  by  Lodge  Lishkat  Hasharon,  and  will  most  probably  be  held  in  Netanya.

 “ PUBLIC   DRUNKENESS ”.

From  the State  where  drunk  driving  is  considered  a  sport,  comes  a  true  story  from  the  Sunshine  Coast,  Queensland,  Australia.  Recently,  a  routine  police  patrol  parked  outside  a  local  neighbourhood  tavern. 

Late  in  the  evening  the  officer  noticed  a  man  leaving  the  bar,  so  intoxicated  that  he  could  barely  walk.  The  man  stumbled  around  the  car  park  for  a  few  minutes,  with  the  officer  quietly  observing.  After  what  seemed  an  eternity,  and  trying  his  keys  on  five  vehicles,  the  man  managed  to  find  his  car,  which  he  fell  into.  He  sat  there  for  a  few  minutes  as  a  number  of other  patrons  left  the  bar  and  drove off.  Finally,  he  started  the  car,  switched  the  wipers  on  and  off  ( It  was  a  fine  dry  night ! ),  flicked  the  indicators  on  and  off,  tooted  the  horn,  and  then  switched  on the  lights.  He  moved  the  vehicle  forward  a  few  inches,  reversed  a  little,  and  then  remained  stationary  for  few  more  minutes  as  more  patrons  left  in  their  vehicles.  At last  he  pulled  out  of  the  car  park,  and  started  to  drive  slowly  down  the  road.

The  police  officer,  having  waited  patiently  all  this  time,  now  started  up the  patrol  car,  put  on  the  flashing  lights,  promptly  pulled  the  man  over,  and  carried  out  a  Breathalyzer  test.  To  his  amazement,  the  Breathalyzer  indicated  no  evidence  of  the  man  having  consumed  alcohol  at  all !  Dumbfounded,  the  officer  said  “  I’ll  have  to  ask  you  to  accompany  me  to  the  Police  Station  -  this  Breathalyzer  must  be  broken.”  I  doubt  it ”  said  the  man. “ Tonight  I’m  the  designated  decoy”.       _____________________________________________________________________________________
